The way you share so much in so few words is masterful.

You not only observed the kairos moment when your beloved lifted her face to the sun, but you took action on it, and are now still with her. And? Sharing this lovely story with me and everyone else spreads the courage and joy to us all.

Thank you. This is the first story I wrote five years ago and it took six months of picking at it to get it down into a digestible read as it was originally close to 20 minutes (cut it in half and then do it again type thinking). I used it as my way to learn how to write a story which helped a lot going forward.

I woke up piling expectations for a "productive day" on myself. This led to a depressive feeling. Then I read your story. Thanks for reminding me of what's important.

Feel you on piling up expectations and the depressing feeling that comes with it. Big reason I write stuff like this is as a reminder to myself that in the grand scheme of things much of our day is spent worrying about stuff that doesn't matter all that much.

"I get to wake up every day and be me."

If this isn't mega-success, then I don't know what is.

I just read the sample of your book Shy By Design on Kindle and it really resonated with me. Thanks for putting quiet people on the map. I look forward to reading the rest of it soon. Cheers!

The best of all is you finding True Love. It makes everything easier 🥰

Indeed. I was going to originally entitle this "Losing $250.000 led to the love of my life" and a part of me still thinks it better title.

Wow, congratulations on taking the leap and following your instincts and going to Barcelona. This is really inspiring especially in a world that's constantly down on people for not having money and that sees money has the answer to all problems. This is further evidence that truth is so much deeper than cash.

Wow, Michael. My jaw was on the floor when you described what happened with the investment property! I'll never understand how such horrible people can exist. I do believe you've had the last laugh, though. Your life seems filled with love and magic! :)

Yeah, financial crisis hit Costa Rica hard and viola, the man changed the deed with a pencil and eraser. Crazy. Been 14 years and just recently got word I'll recoup some of the money. But not getting my hopes up. Guessing I've spent another 50K on lawyers and three times I won the case but the judges then said there needed to be a retrial due to some loophole. Corruption all around. The guy even offered the judges land during a hearing....

Damn, that's so awful, I'm so sorry! I'm amazed you've had the grit to last through three trials, though I suppose you must be incredibly angry! I hope you are able to recoup some of the money. You'll have to write about it if you do!

Thank you Jeanette. Trying to get this one to a 5 minute-read was tough and fun. I have a much longer version I may publish one day down the line.

Your storytelling is a realm of magic Michael where you turn your own losses into our good fortune.

Thank you Rick. This was the first fully driven story post I wrote and yesterday marked 5 years since I first published it. I see some holes but don't dare touch it for prosperity sake.

"some people travel because they’re running toward something, while others travel because they’re running away from something" I'm in the second category as well and wonder if some of us have to get to a point where we can go no further before we can come home to who we are. Love the trajectory of your story.

Thank you Marie. I think sometimes movement is the thing we need as putting ourselves out into the world helps us to understand how we best fit into it. Also, sometimes to find your place in the world you need to find your actual place (like location). Where we live is very important. I'm better suited for the way of life here and I knew it very early on.
