If I could write like someone, it would be you. I don't know how you make reading your prose so effortless, but you do. Excited to follow and hopefully learn along the way.

Shout out to my friend Michael Thompson and his first post on Substack!! He is the one that convinced me to switch to the platform so I owe him a great debt. He is awesome at personal storytelling and teaching it to others. Give him a follow and check out his forthcoming book!

Came across this on Notes -- Just subscribed. I'll check out your book too when it comes out.

I also grew up with a stutter. I still have one, but people don't really seem to notice. Used to be quite bad. I can also definitely relate to writing to an audience of none hahah. Looking forward to what you build on here!

Thank you so much Arthur - really appreciate your support.

Yeah I think the beauty of getting older is stuttering isn't really a thing to most people. I gave a best man's speech a few years back and got tripped up once which was a major win and a 75+ year-old man shouted "What's the matter with you kid, you stutter?" Pretty mind-blowing but definitely the minority for sure and the glares people gave him made up for it. My wife thinks it's cute and that's good enough for me. Really glad to be connected on here and excited to get going.

My thought in writing is to have someplace to store my thoughts and then look back on them. What I’m writing about is just as helpful for me as I hope it is for others.

Right on. Most of my writing is reflective in nature. Struggling with book promotion as it's not my natural/comfortable writing place. But yes, I write for me and if it connects with others, great. Only way to do it without burning out.

I love that you call your wife smoking hot😂 my husband was also the shy quiet type (still is) covered in pimples and he also calls me his smoking hot wife😂. I also love what you said about a niche pigeonholing you. I’m working against that with my publication as we speak while feeling like I’m getting screamed at by Substack to just pick a niche. I’ll write about what I want to write about darn it! Anyways, thanks for sharing Michael😊

Hahaha thank you Katie. You're husband sounds like a man after my own heart.

Yeah, I can't write with an audience in mind and need to "feel" it and I feel many things. Bit of the struggle now as I should be writing in my book topic lane right now but I just wrote 55,000 words about it. Long-term I think writing what you want to write is the only play as the rest feels like marketing.

Glad to be connected with you on here and thank you again for the warm welcome.

Thanks so much man. I'm excited for it to be out in the world and worst case I'll hop in my car to grab a coffee with you as I could use a 48-72 hour break and roadtrips tend to do me good. Really appreciate the support and excited to get moving on here.
